WANTED: Grant Writer at the Washington School for Girls
POSITION: Grant Writer
REPORTS TO: Director of Development
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for researching, writing and producing successful funding proposals to support operating and capital needs to both long-term, established funders and newly identified funders including foundations, churches, religious groups, and business.
1) Prepare all grant applications and reports in a timely manner; 2) Maintain communication and re-application processes for current WSG grants; 3) Develop annual strategy and goals for grants that reflect the school’s priorities; 4) Identify new prospective donors and create a strategic approach that will lead to a successful application process; 5) Collaborate with WSG leadership team, faculty, and staff to maintain accurate and up to date knowledge of current school goals, activities, and funding requirements; 6) Work with development and school personnel to develop evaluation and measurement criteria for grant reporting; 7) Use Donor Perfect software to record submissions to and interaction with prospective donors; 8) Prepare materials for funder visits; 9) Research grant trends and pursue continuing education and certifications; 10) Edit/proofread materials for Development and PR as needed; 11) Make general contributions to the overall efforts of the WSG Development Team as negotiated.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of a BA, with proven track record as a grant writer that resulted in funding. Excellent writing skills, effective use of language, creativity, and commitment. Proven success in organizing work, meeting strict deadlines, and setting priorities.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Negotiable hours. Half to full-time employment. Work at home with on-site meetings as necessary or desirable.
