National Capital Area Chapter News

Greetings, chapter members!

Happy May! As we move through our many spring grant deadlines, we’re delighted to provide you a few updates on our chapter’s activities:
- May brownbag: Many thanks to those of you who joined us at our March happy hour! To continue with informal gatherings, we will be planning a brownbag lunch in late May – an informal opportunity to meet other chapter members, discuss current issues in the grants profession, and vent about that latest grant application or report that drove you crazy!  We will be shortly be sending out information about exact date, time, and location.
- “Selling and Telling”: On June 14, we will join the Foundation Center to host a professional development session on “Selling and Telling: Impact and Your Organization.” Describing programs is easy; communicating their impact is more complicated. This session will focus on finding and articulating program results using everyday English and a blueprint to guide action. The session will be led Edie Steele, Ph.D. of Hood College in Frederick, who has conducted training in program development, data collection, evaluation and measurement for funding and nonprofit organizations in the Northeast. June 14, 2016, 11:30 am-1:00 pm, Foundation Center, 1627 K St NW in Washington. For more information and to register, please sign up here.
Job Announcements: If your organization has an open job opportunity or you become aware of one, please share with GPA-NCA chapter members! Please post them to our LinkedIn Group or our chapter blog. You can also send them directly to grantsnca@gmail.com and we will include them in the next email distribution to the chapter membership. Thank you!
Consultants’ Network: In response to several requests, we are starting a consultants’ network within our chapter. This network will allow GPA-NCA members who are consultants to exchange information on resources and referrals and to maintain a directory of their areas of expertise and/or subcontracting needs or interests.  If you would like to join this network, please email us at grantsnca@gmail.com.
Regional Conference: We are exploring the possibility of hosting a GPA Regional Conference in the next 2-3 years, on our own or in cooperation with other nearby chapters. We are forming a small, adhoc exploratory committee to delve into this further. If you are interested in serving on this committee, or simply would like to share some ideas, please contact us at grantsnca@gmail.com.
Please let us know if you have any information you’d like to share in our next email blast, and feel free to contact us if you have any questions about chapter membership and resources. Thank you!

David Lindeman, President
Tara Davis, Vice President
