Job
Description:
The Director
of Corporate & Foundation Relations is responsible for developing and
implementing a strategic fundraising plan and executing strategies to identify,
cultivate and solicit corporations, foundations and government agencies for
financial support of the College's identified fundraising priorities. The
Director reports to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and works
closely with the President, the cabinet, the Provost and Deans, and faculty in
this process. The Director will also lead the effort to expand the College's access
to government funding opportunities. A prime objective of this position is
increasing annual fundraising revenue to the College.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop
and implement a comprehensive corporate, foundation, and government fundraising
program which will generate capital, endowment and annual gifts from
foundations (both local and national), corporations, and government agencies.

Proactively
identify, cultivate, solicit and build relationships with foundation and
corporate prospects and donors in support of the mission and strategic plan of
the College:

Identify
potential grant opportunities.
·
Conduct
research and analysis on potential donors for solicitation. Initiate and
develop communication with prospective funding sources.
·
Coordinate
with Board of Trustees Development Committee for connections/networking with
corporations, foundations and government sources.
·
Develop
and institute a plan to increase the level of government support.
·
Maintain
an intense focus and high level of personal activity including writing letters
of inquiry and submission of grant proposals, resulting in a high conversion
rate of funding commitments. Additional activity to include:
o
Acknowledgement
of gifts, reports and related correspondence for grants.
o
Work
in conjunction with other college departments to develop proposals.
o
Track
progress of submitted proposals.
o
Prepare
stewardship reports on all grant activities to donors to ensure that the
College has been responsible in disbursement of funds according to the grant's
criteria and that activities undertaken have met the donor's accountability
criteria.

Support
the efforts of faculty and staff to receive government and foundation funding
of programs and research.
·
Co-chair
with the Provost and plan the College's Grants Review Committee meetings and
track results of campus-wide grant proposals and outcomes.

Maintain
current procedural guidelines for targeted funding sources
·
Develop
and maintain in-depth knowledge of the College's organization, mission,
programs, activities, resources, etc. as well as fundraising needs; articulate
needs to corporate, foundation, and government funding sources persuasively.
Utilize other campus departments as needed (i.e., Enrollment Management,
Finance, Public Relations, and Institutional Research) in this process.

Work
with College administrators and faculty on identifying potential grant-funding
opportunities and developing projects at the College for proposal submission
·
Regularly
produce reports on the area's activities & progress toward achieving goals
·
Maintain
strategic relationships and information flow between the College and all past,
present and pending foundations and major corporate donors to the College;
·
Perform
all other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
·
Bachelor's
degree required, Master's degree preferred
·
At
least five years of progressively responsible development experience with a
proven track record in grantsmanship, including demonstrated familiarity with
government and foundation grant systems; program development; grant writing,
and grant stewardship. Development experience in higher education is preferred.

Experience
developing and maintaining strategic, high level relationships with funding
sources.
·
Experience
utilizing targeted research tools for grants and/or foundation opportunities
such as The Foundation Center, Pivot, etc.
·
Excellent
understanding of government operations; success in securing government funding
is highly desirable.
·
Supervisory
background and ability strongly preferred.
·
Self-motivated
initiator with strong organizational and time management skills required.
·
Intermediate
level computer skills using a Windows based operating system, specifically MS
Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.
·
Excellent
interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including the ability to
effectively communicate with a wide range of external as well as internal
constituents including faculty, staff, and senior management.

Experience
working effectively in a fast-paced environment and producing results under
deadlines.
