Hello chapter members!
Happy July! It was
wonderful to see many of you at our June 2nd lunch gathering and at
our June 14th “Selling and Telling” professional development session at the
Foundation Center. Below are several updates on upcoming chapter activities:
- August Happy Hour:
In mid-August, we will host a networking happy hour in the Dupont
Circle/Farragut North area. Stay tuned for details – if the heat wave has
abated by then, we will sit outside; otherwise, we will mingle inside in air
conditioning!
- September Seminar:
In late September, we will host a webinar - “FY17 Federal budget outlook
and prospect research: How the budget impacts the grant seeking process.” We
are looking for 2 active and engaging speakers who can speak to the federal
budget outlook for FY17 and also someone with extensive federal grants
experience who has an understanding of federal prospect research. Please email
Rachel Werner at rachel@rbwstrategy.com if you know of anyone who
might fit the bill. More details to come shortly!
- GPA National
Conference: This year’s national GPA Conference will be held in Atlanta,
GA from November 9 to 12. We plan to have a robust contingent of GPA-NCA
members in attendance and participating on several panels. Please consider
joining us at the conference! And don’t delay – the Early Bird
Registration ends July 31, 2016 – register
today and
save $130!
- December Annual
Meeting: We are seeking ideas for a location for our annual members’
meeting and holiday reception in December. If your organization is interested
in hosting, or if you have suggestions for available venues, please let us know
at grantsnca@gmail.com. Thanks again to chapter member Lisa
Chutjian and the Alexander Graham Bell Association for hosting last year’s
holiday gathering!
- Consultants’
Network: Later this month, we will officially launch the consultants’
network within our chapter. This network will allow GPA-NCA members who are
consultants to exchange information on resources and referrals and to maintain
a directory of their areas of expertise and/or subcontracting needs or
interests. If you would like to join this network, please email us at grantsnca@gmail.com.
- Regional Conference:
We are exploring the possibility of hosting a GPA Regional Conference in the
next 2-3 years. We are forming a small, adhoc exploratory committee to delve
into this further. If you are interested in serving on this committee, or
simply would like to share some ideas, please contact David Lindeman at dlindeman@globalgrantsolutions.com.
- Job Announcements:
If your organization has an open job opportunity or you become aware of one, please
share with GPA-NCA chapter members! Please post them to our LinkedIn Group or our chapter blog. You can also send them
directly to grantsnca@gmail.com and we will include them
in the next email distribution to the chapter membership. Thank you!
- Other
announcements: The OMB and the COFAR are pleased to announce the third
in a series of webcasts on the Uniform Guidance is now available online. Please
see https://cfo.gov/2016/07/05/july-2016-uniform-guidance-promising-practices-in-implementation/ for more information.
Please let us know if you
have any information you’d like to share in our next email blast, and feel free
to contact us if you have
any questions about chapter membership, upcoming activities, and
resources. Thank you!
